Introduction

The middle age was the time of great discovery and a whole lot of inventions. Anything that improves or makes life easyier is a form of technology. :D
They are alot of technology that were from the middle ages such as the siege engine, The printing Press, the heavy plough, tidal wheel, The spnning wheel and alot more!!!!
They were different forms of technology like military technology and stuff like that.

!The Siege Engine!
The seige engine was one of the great inventions for war. They used it to invade castles. The siege engine takes down enemy’s castle and the armies surrounded by it. Solders try to break through the castle walls with siege engines. The siege engines looked like a giant seesaw, one short side and one long side. The siege engine's long side is the flinging arm and at the end there’s a sling that holds a large rock or other ammunition. The siege engine's short side has a heavy weight attached. How it worked was the soldier pulls down on the long side ropes, which held it into place with the locking pin, and then the ammunition was loaded on to the sling. When the backing pin was pulled out the heavy shorter side lowered then flung the long arm upward, throwing the ammunition into the castle wall or whatever they need to us it for.

An example on what it does :D

THE PRINTING PRESS

The printing press was improtant,Before they had a printing press every book and every document was a manuscript. It was written by hand and the production of even one single page was difficult and took great effort. Also it was a time consuming task. The books were expensive and the only very popular texts that appealed the people were likely to be copied. Wood-cut printing became use in europe from the 12th century. They usualy used wood-cut printing for large volumes of religous pictures and playing cards. When the moveable-type printing press came along u didn't need to seprately carve each page.

The Heavy Plough
The heavy plough made farming alot easyier. The heavy plough consisted of a coulter(which is a blade or wheel attached to the beam of a plow that makes vertical cuts in the soil in advance of the plowshare),plowshare(which is the horizontal pointed cutting blade of a mouldboard plough)and a mouldboard (which is the curved blade of a plough, which turns over the furrow). The heavy plough had many advantages for other ploughs. It made Cross plouhing unecessary , allowing peasants to prove and prepare much more land in a short period of time. It Made the feilds long and narrow. It made it better for crops. The heavy plow was invented in the sixth centurary.

The Tidal Mill

A tide mill is a specialized type of a water mill driven by tidal rise and fall. The tidal mills were built near the sea in low-lying areas. Dams had swinging gates and were built along shallow creeks. When the tide comes in, the gates go open inward, away from the sea. Then water started to fill the area behind the dam. When the gates turned, the gate shut, which forces the water to flow seaward through the millrace of the tidal mill. One disadvantage to the tidal mill is that the times of the tides shift every day.

The Spinning wheel
The spinning became known in medieval Europe in the late 1200s. The spinning wheel help the spinsters make thread quickly but the thread was sometimes loose and rough. The spinning wheel replaced the earlier method of hand spinning. Well just because the hand method took a long time, so they started to use the spinning wheel ,so it wouldn't take so long. Many noble and peasant women spent hours a day to thread and woven cloth for their household. The spinners often use a distaff (which is a stick with a fork or a comb on the tip used to hold long staple fibres while spinning) to hold their fibres while they were with a spindle. ( a spindle is a stick with a stone or weight attached to it)They didn't have the foot pedal untill a bit later on in the middle ages.
